I was struggling with what to wear last week when I remembered this post from Who What Wear, about a lady who decided to create a uniform that she wears to work everyday. She invested in several pairs of black pants, white blouses, and some blazers – just in case she had a meeting to attend. I have no interest in whittling down my wardrobe that much (I love colors and patterns and variety), but I have to admit that she had a pretty cool idea. So, when I was at a loss for what to wear, inspired by her story I turned my favorite pair of black pants and a classic white button up, as she described. I ended up pairing it with this awesome (and comfy!) pair of flats I picked up from Madewell in Chicago the week before.
Which brings me to my next point, I apologize for the lack of posts in the past couple of weeks. I was out of town and didn’t really find the time to take photos, and then this past week I was buried under a LONG list of things to do, including a 15 page paper for one of my classes. Summer is almost here, at least that’s what I keep telling myself. Just 3 more papers, 2 presentations, and 1 test (and a partridge in a pear tree!) stand between me and the end of the semester. . .
Anyway, I hope your week is off to a terrific start.
Well, this week was off to a rough start. The Kentucky Wildcats lost on Saturday night in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, and I was officially in mourning for two days. (I wore black to Church on Easter Sunday. . .) Alas, it was a really amazing season while it lasted.
However, there are many good things to report: a fantastic lunch catching up with my friends, nice weather, a big grant I’ve been working on – submitted, and this really great outfit. I think this is my favorite outfit that I’ve posted so far. I love every piece. The only thing that is missing is some arm candy, which I incidentally forgot to put on before I left the house. Whoops. Either way, everyone that works in an office should have a “power suit” that makes them feel confident and put together. This would be mine. Neutral blazer + fun pencil skirt = ready to take on the world.
I pretty much love these pants. They feel very menswear inspired. Another option would be to wear them with a really bright, neon top. Unfortunately, I actually bought them last spring, but the window-pane pattern is fairly widely available this season. Here it is in a top, blouse, and skirt from the loft (On SALE!)
I hope your week is going well. This week is super busy for me. I’ve got class or meetings almost every night this week. It’s quite a contrast from my relatively relaxing spring break last week. The good news is that some of the most stressful parts of the week are already over. And hey, it’s almost Easter which means it’s time to celebrate that the Lord is Risen!
