Whew! I finally feel like I’m getting into the swing of things at Law School. I’m not sure that means I’m doing well, but I think I’m past the point of drowning in my reading and homework assignments. It’s definitely a balancing act of trying to do your best, even though your best may mean not getting to read every case or do every assignment as thoroughly as you would like. I’m really enjoying the material we are learning, at least in most of my classes. And I’m finding time to think about things like, what I’m going to wear each day – trying to look nice was a real struggle those first couple weeks of school.
If you’re ever at a loss for what to wear or if you’re in a hurry (which if you’re like me, you’re in a hurry every morning) grabbing an article of clothing with stripes is a solid foundation for a good outfit. That’s why I love this skirt! (Worn previously here). The last time I wore it, I dressed it up a bit more, so for a casual take I paired it this time with a tee and a denim jacket. I probably could have also thrown on a pair of sneakers for a similarly casual effect. Lately I’ve also been carrying a smaller purse. Let’s face it hauling around a backpack full of law school books and a laptop is no joke. There isn’t much more room on your person for anything else.
By the way, if you didn’t see it on my Facebook or Twitter page, a couple of weeks ago I was featured on the Arkansas Women Bloggers site with a post about sizzling work attire!
It’s not the 4th of July, but red, white, and blue is always a good color combination for an outfit. This is another one of those sale finds I grabbed last month at the Eleigh’s Boutique annual tent sale. (You really should mark your calendars for next year’s sale. I scored some really great deals!) I really like the paisley print, the light weight material, and the fact that it’s a one-piece, all of which make this an easy option for a summer outing.
And, if you’ve been following lately, you know that I finished working at my job last week, and this week I started law school. So far I can tell it is going to be an intense ride, with lots of reading and attention to detail (which is not my strongest attribute, but I’m working on it). There were two points of the week that really highlighted my orientation experience. First, I met the people I will be working with for my structured study group, and they all seem like really interesting, intelligent people. I’m very excited to be working with them throughout the semester. Secondly, we were all officially sworn in as law students last night. Woohoo!
Hope everyone else is having a great work week or that your semester is off to a great start!
If you work in a laid back office like where I work, it is great to have a bit of flexibility to dress according to your mood. When I wore this dress the other day, I was definitely in the mood for something more casual and way less constrictive than pants. Enter this maxi dress. I love the pattern and shape of the sleeves, it’s unlike anything else I have in my closet, and it’s another one of those goodies I scored at the Eleigh’s tent sale last week. It’s the best of both worlds though, because it’s also great for the weekend!
Last Friday, I experienced the most intense shopping excursion I think I’ve ever participated in (and yes, I’ve shopped Black Friday sales in the middle of the night numerous times.) I skipped sleeping in, I battled rush hour traffic, and stood in ridiculously long lines in 100 degree heat, ended up bruised and sore, for what was arguably the sale of the season, at least in Central Arkansas. It was the 3rd Annual Eleigh’s Tent Sale! I scored a number of items for really great prices. That’s where I picked up this lovely grecian-inspired dress and necklace, which I wore this weekend on my date-night with my husband. Unfortunately, I don’t have any links to this dress because Eleigh’s does not have an online shopping forum yet, but you can sign up for updates here and you can stay in-the-know on their new in-store arrivals by following them on Instagram here.
If you didn’t make it out to Eleigh’s Tent Sale, don’t worry, there are still some great sales going on that you can shop from the comfort of your couch in your pj’s. Here are some of my favorites: the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, J.Crew (Extra 50% off sale styles with code YAYSALE), and Banana Republic (Extra 50% off sale with code BRFIFTY).
Eyelet is the perfect material for a super hot summer day or evening. I wore this outfit over the weekend to a dinner date with my husband. I brought the denim jacket just in case it was cold inside the restaurant, but it was so warm I didn’t really need it. A couple of years ago bubble necklaces like the one I have on here had a MAJOR moment and everyone was wearing them. That moment has since past, but I love mine and still wear it from time to time.
This particular dress I bought a couple of years ago at Old Navy, but even so there are tons of similar styles out there now:
I haven’t talked much about my beauty routine before, but if you don’t already own a Clarisonic, you need to get one, and this is the perfect chance to get one without paying full price. I love this floral one, or here’s an even better deal on a cute solid color.
